On seeing the new moon
اللَّهُمَّ أَهْلِلْهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالْيُمْنِ وَالْإِيمَانِ وَالسَّلَامَةِ وَالْإِسْلَامِ، رَبِّي وَرَبُّكَ اللَّهُ
Allahumma ahlilhu ‘alayna bil-yumni wal-iman, was-salamati wal-islam. Rabbi wa rabbuk-Allah.
O Allah, bring this moon over us with blessing and faith, with safety and Islam. My Lord and your Lord is Allah.

Intention for the fast (Sehri)
وَبِصَوْمِ غَدٍ نَّوَيْتُ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ
Wa bi-sawmi ghadin nawaitu min shahri Ramadan.
I intend to keep tomorrow’s fast of the month of Ramadan.
A popular wording. The intention is made in the heart and does not need to be spoken.
At Iftar
ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الْأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ
Dhahabaz-zama’u wabtallatil-‘uruqu wa thabatal-ajru in sha’ Allah.
The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is certain, if Allah wills.

At Iftar (also recited)
اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ صُمْتُ وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ أَفْطَرْتُ
Allahumma laka sumtu wa ‘ala rizqika aftartu.
O Allah, for You I fasted, and with Your provision I break my fast.

For the person who hosts your Iftar
أَفْطَرَ عِنْدَكُمُ الصَّائِمُونَ، وَأَكَلَ طَعَامَكُمُ الْأَبْرَارُ، وَصَلَّتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ
Aftara ‘indakumus-sa’imun, wa akala ta‘amakumul-abrar, wa sallat ‘alaykumul-mala’ikah.
May those who fast break their fast with you, may the righteous eat your food, and may the angels pray for you.

For Laylatul Qadr
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul-‘afwa fa‘fu ‘anni.
O Allah, You are the Pardoner and You love to pardon, so pardon me.
